Trip 1: Paro-Thimpu-Punakha-Paro (AIR in/AIR out )

  • Day 1 : Arrival at Paro Airport ; Visit Rinpung Dzong & local sight seeing ; Dinner & Night stay at Paro 
  • Day 2 : Trip to Tiger's Nest Monastery ,one of the most famous & holiest places to visit in Bhutan. It is perched on a steep granite cliff at 2950 meters overlooking northern Paro valley. The place is especially venerated because of its association with Guru Rimpoche and is believed that more merit is gained if we meditate even for a minute in Tasktshang than many months in other places. It will take about 3-5hrs to hike to the monastery (One way ). Overnight  stay at Paro ; include Breakfast & Dinner 
  • Day 3 - After Breakfast ,start for Thimpu , the capital city of Bhutan. Visit the Indigenous Hospital where traditional old art of healing is still practiced, Art and Craft school, National library, Royal goldsmith workshop, and Handicraft centers. Afternoon visit the Memorial Chorten built in the memory of the late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, 15-century Changangkha monastery, Motithang mini zoo ( see the rare "Takin" ,national animal of Bhutan) . Enjoy free time in the market . Overnight stay at  Thimphu ; Include Breakfast & Dinner 
  • Day 4 - Enjoy morning drive to Wangduephodrang, with a stop en route for tea at Dochu La Pass (3,100 meters), where on a clear day one can get spectacular views of the Himalayas. In Wangdue, stop at Mehsina village and visit Chime Lhakhang - The Temple of Fertility built in the 15th century by Lama Drukpa Kinley. (This monk is popularly known as the Devine madman for his philosophy, Salvation through sex). Afternoon drive to Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan visits Punakha Dzong, which is noteworthy both for being one of the most beautiful dzongs in Bhutan and also for having been built by the first Shabdrung in 1637. Overnight stay at  Punakha ;  Include Breakfast & Dinner 
  • Day 5 -  After breakfast transfer to Paro Airport (Approx 2-4 hrs), covering some on-way sightseeing. Every turn on the way comes with a surprise and a scenic view of the mountain and nature ! Trip ends with lot of sweet memories ; Include Breakfast .

Trip 2 : Phuntshiling- Thimpu- Paro ( Drive In/ Drive Out )

  • Day 1 :  Arrival at Phuentsholing . After immigration clearance ,transfer to Thimphu .Thimphu lies at an elevation of 2300m, in a beautiful valley, sprawling up a hillside on the west bank of the Thimphu Chhu River and has a total area of about 1,809 sq. km. Check the evening market  at your own leisure. Be sure to sink your teeth into momo kopi, and steam dumplings filled with finely chopped cabbage, onions, cheese and butter. Overnight stay at Thimphu ; Dinner included
  • Day 2 :  After breakfast go for the Thimphu City Tour Covering - The art & Craft school, the National Institute of Traditional Medicine, the National Library, Handicraft centers, The Memorial Chorten built in memory of the late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, Tashichoo dzong, Buddha Dordenma statue, Bhutan Simply Museum, Folk and Heritage Museum, Handmade paper factory, BBS Tower, SAARC building, 15-century Changangkha monastery, Motithang mini zoo to see the rare "Takin" ,the national animal of Bhutan and drive further down with a good view of the Thimphu valley. Visit the new Drupthob nunnery temple and have free time in the market. Overnight stay at Thimphu; Breakfast & Dinner included. 
  • Day 3 :  After breakfast transfer to Paro, covering some onway sightseeing. Every turn on the way comes with surprise and scenic view of the mountain and nature. Visit the historic ruins of the Drukgyal Dzong, built in 1647. Also visit the Paro airport viewpoint. Paro's Main Street features shops on both sides, all crammed with brasswares, silk and cotton scarves, incense sticks, silver filigree jewellery, gho (Bhutanese National Dress for Men) which can be matched with elaborately embroidered boots, kira (wrap-around sarong worn for Bhutanese Women) and prayer flags that one could string across any open space to seek blessings for
    loved ones and friend; Overnight stay at Paro ; Breakfast & Dinner included 
  • Day 4 :  Post breakfast drive 12kms north of Paro to visit Taktshang: or "Tiger’s Nest" is one of the most famous &  holiest sites in Bhutan which you need to hike by your own (it will take approx 2-3hrs one way ).If not interested to hike ,one can have a view from the parking point and proceed for local sightseeing – covering Ta dzong , Rinpung Dzong, Dungtse Lhankhang, Nya-mey Zam, Ugyen Pelri Palace, Kychu lhakhang monastery (one can visit here to explore the cultural and traditional heritage by Dressing up in the local attire and various other traditional dresses which are available at this location ); Overnight stay at Paro; Breakfast & Dinner included
  • Day 5 - Drive to Phuntsholing after a sumptous Breakfast ; Visit the local market for shopping at discount ; Visit ends on a sweet note & lovely memories . 

Important information about Bhutan

Sustainability Development Fee ( SDF )

Indian tourists are required to pay Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of INR 1,200/- per person per night. Children aged 5 years and below are exempted of SDF and children between the age of 6-12 years are given 50 % concession on SDF. Tourist visiting Samtse, Phuentsholing, Gelephu, and Samdrup Jongkhar towns for 24 hours need not pay Sustainable Development Fee (SDF).                            

Foreign tourists are required to pay SDF of  $100 per person per night.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      

Planning to drive to Bhutan ?

 Indian-registered vehicles will be allowed within the designated zone without any charges. However, if any vehicle goes beyond Rinchending Check Post in Phuentsholing, they will be required to pay Nu 4,500 per day as Green Tax. They further need to register on Check Post Management System (CPMS) to cross the RBP check points. Our representative will help you register your vehicle. 


Documents required:

  • Original driving license
  • Original Registration Certificate (Vehicle Registration shall not be more than 10 years from date of registration).
  • Vehicle insurance
  • Vehicle emission and road worthiness certificate
  • Owner of the vehicle must be the same person. If driver and owner are different, an authority letter from owner to driver is required.
  • Vehicle will be accompanied by a registered guide while travelling across Bhutan.

Vaccination

 There are no Covid-19 vaccination requirements for adults or children to enter Bhutan from September 23, 2022. However, it is advised to carry the Vaccination Certificate. Individuals above 12 years may be randomly subjected to RT-PCR testing at points of entry. No fee shall be charged for the RT-PCR testing for surveillance. 

Guidelines for Indians visiting Bhutan

 Indian nationals visiting Bhutan do not require visa. However, they will be issued an entry permit. ‘Entry Permit’ will be issued by the Department of Immigration in the Pedestrian Terminal /Paro Airport at Phuentsholing on the basis of a valid Travel Document. Tourists/visitors from India are required to carry the following Travel Documents:

  • Original Indian Passport (with minimum six months validity) or Original Voter ID card;
  • For children below 18 years, Original birth certificate (in English language) or passport, and must be accompanied by a legal guardian;
  • 02 passport size photographs are required.
  • Tourists should have travel insurance for the duration of the trip.

Entrance through Pedestrian Terminal

 The Pedestrian Terminal at Jaigaon-Phuentsholing border remains open for 24x7. Entry Permit is not required for daily visitors who will be visiting Phuentsholing only. An online pre-registration system has been developed to pass through the pedestrian terminal at website https://bms.doi.gov.bt. On successful registration, a QR code will be generated. The registered person is required to present the QR code at the immigration counter along with the required identity document. Pre-registration is one time and there is no need to register again. Daily visitors can visit until Rinchending Check Post. SDF will be applicable beyond this point and they will also have to obtain a permit from the Regional Immigration Office. Casual visitors who make night halt  beyond 24 hours in Phuentsholing will have to pay SDF. For daily visitors, a User Fee of Nu.10 per person (Bhutanese as well as foreigners) is charged for entering through the Pedestrian Terminal each time, no User Fee charged on exit. 

Other entry/exit points on the southern Indo-Bhutan border are in Samtse, Samdrup Jongkhar, Sarpang/Gelephu. 

Guidelines for Foreign tourists visiting Bhutan

  1.  Any foreigner intending to visit Bhutan as tourist must process their visit through a licensed  Bhutanese tour operator . 
  2.  Nationals of all countries other than India must obtain e-visa prior to entry into Bhutan  unless exempted by bilateral agreement. 
  3.  Visa on Arrival : Nationals of Bangladesh and the Maldives are eligible for visa on arrival. Nationals of  Thailand and Switzerland holding diplomatic/official passports are eligible for visa on arrival.  
  4.  Passports must have a minimum validity of 6 months from the intended date of departure  from Bhutan .
  5. Current VISA fees - $40 per person.
